Product is excellent for temporary room darkening (or even more permanent if you are careful about installing and perhaps enhancing with minimal window treatment.) However, please be warned about the packaging. Each of 5 shades came in its own box that was HUGE and loaded with paper. Completely unnecessary as all five could have fit in ONE box 1/3 of the size. It took me 45 minutes to unpack and get rid of all the packaging so I could leave the house (the five boxes completely blocked my entryway.) I was LIVID and will NEVER order these from Amazon again. I do want more and will go through another retailer. This is obviously the work of a disgruntled or zero-IQ employee that is trying to ruin Amazon’s otherwise great track record. I had read another review mentioning this, but trust me NOTHing can prepare you for the insanity of this packaging. And, to make matters worse, one of the shades was bent! Completely ridiculous. Bottom line: buy these, but NOT FROM AMAZON

I have allergies and have used Redi Shades for over 4 years, have used the cordless and the ones with the cord. I like the cordless best. The are easy to cut and easy to hang.

On windows that get usage and because I live in the south, (Hot here) sometimes the tape at the top of the blinds gradually come loose, so I just take a small piece of duct tape and place on center and corners when I first put up, then it doesn’t make any difference how hot it gets, it won’t come loose.

They are wonderful temporary shades, gives your room a nice look from the outside and you can replace as often as the dust requires. I would never go back to using regular blinds after using Redi Shades. In addition, the price is very reasonable.

Try them, you will not be disappointed.

If you are wanting to truly darken your room, take a white garbage bag and tape it across your window (so it looks okay from the outside). Cover with Expensive Dark Green Garbage bags (they are darker than cheap) (hang long across, use tape if in apartment or use tacks if in your own place to secure them. Then so your room looks nice, hang your room darkening Redi Shade.

You room will be really dark. My husband said our bedroom is like a cave. LOL.

I love them!

I have used this in my daughter’s room and in my living room for the past two summers and it makes a huge difference on the power bill.

The late afternoon sun & 20′ ceilings in my living room make it more like an oven than a living area. I put these shades underneath the mini blnds for 1/2 of the windows in the room. Before I used these my AC couldn’t keep up to keep the house at 73 degrees. It would always get up to 77 or 78. With these on though, it is so cool & comfortable.

What’s even greater is that I can take them down once summer is over and put them back up the following year.

They are very EASY to install - less than 10 minutes.

***I highly recommend that you clean the area that the adhesive strip will stick to with alcohol before you hang these. A clean area helps the adhesiveness last longer.

These are inexpensive, easy to install, and they reduce the heat in my living room when used with my darker damask curtains which cooked the room when used alone. These don’t block the sunlight, they just reduce the light entering; they also are not high quality permanent-type blinds, I just use them in the summer to reduce interior heat.
I ordered 2 and Amazon sent each of them in its own 3 1/2′x2′x2′ box, the dimension of the blind is about 3′x2"x2". Lots of wasted space and packing material.

Easy to trim down to size. Easy to use and look great. I’m thinking of buying more but the HUGE BOX each shade comes in is ridiculous. THey should ship them together in one box.

How To Bring Your Living Room To Life

July 28, 2009 | Category:Articles-Host | Author: admin

Do you like what you have but dont like your room? Heres the solution: pull your rooms together so they look finished and professionally decorated by following these techniques to add the wow to your rooms! (Ive used them in hundreds of homes!).

1. Paint the walls and ceiling a rich, warm neutral color or one of the colors in your rooms fabrics. Your furnishings will immediately look more at home. I call it marrying your architecture to your furnishings.

2. Next, move your seating away from the walls and group it around a fireplace, a view window or any logical focal point.

3. Now, add a generous area rug to accent and unify your entire seating area.

4. Fill any empty looking corners with large plants and soft up-lights. Add a decorative, folding screen for a fuller look.

5. Place your lamps to evenly and softly light your seating area. Use additional lighting to accent your artwork, collections and accessories.

6. Create a focal point on the coffee table by elevating one of your favorite accessories on a stack of several books (sans covers). This will give your treasure more presence. Then add a low, full green plant or a blooming orchid and a couple of large, glowing candles. If you like a fuller look, use a decorative tray or runner underneath.

7. Lastly, be sure to decorate the top half of your room (from the furniture up), with tall plants, window treatments, artwork and that wall color. The room will feel considerably larger, more interesting and most importantly finished!

These few changes will make all the difference so you can start enjoying living in a beautiful home!

What You Need to Know about Innerspring Futon Mattress

July 28, 2009 | Category:Articles-Host | Author: admin

Discover More Information about Inner-Spring Futons Before Buying

Futon mattresses with springs are becoming more and more popular these days. Although, they’re mostly used in Japanese beds, American markets have caught-up with this type of mattress and now offer innerspring futons to US consumers.

Although memory foam mattress, latex or air mattresses are more popular, because they provide much more comfort, some people still prefer Western-style futon mattresses with springs. Even in Japan, Western-style futons are becoming increasingly popular, because they’re softer and provide better body support than original Japanese futons.

First, let’s see what innerspring mattress is made of

Innerspring futon mattress is usually constructed of many springs and multiple foam layers. Each of these parts is important and will affect your night’s sleep. So it’s suggested to pay attention to these components when buying an innerspring mattress for yourself or someone else.

Futon Spring Mattress Cover Layers

Usually, futons are covered in cotton. But they can also contain wool or polyester. So the covering layer staple can be natural or synthetic.

Natural is usually more expensive to produce, so the cost of a futon is higher. Synthetic innerspring futon mattress may not be preferred by some people, because of possible toxins and health risks. But the price can be lower. Most common synthetic material used in creating futon or innerspring mattress covers are latex or polyester.

You should of course see for yourself what’s better for you. Is it your health? Or is it your money? Actually, you should not save money at the expense of your health. So in such case, it’s recommended to spend more money on innerspring futon mattress that’s made of natural fiber, than risk your health with some synthetic futons.

Inner-Spring Futon Coils

Coils are just as important, or maybe even more important, than top layers of innerspring futon. There are different mattresses on the market. Some have higher number of coils, others use less coils in a mattress. Naturally, you would assume that the more coils there are, the better the mattress would be. However, that’s not necessarily true. Here’s why:

These days, it doesn’t matter how many coils there are used in the innerspring futon mattress. It’s all about the system of the coils that is used in the mattress.

Most mattresses come with 300 to 800 coils or so. Of course, it all depends on the size of the mattress. The bigger the mattress, the more coils there are. So it is considered that if the mattress has more coils, it will provide better support and will be more comfortable to sleep on. But you should take into consideration that there are different types of coils. A futon mattress with springs may have about 300 coils, but provide the same amount of comfort if the size of those coils is larger than normal.

Another myth is that the firmer the futon, the better support it will give. Earlier, most doctors said that you should get a firm mattress. It’s because sleeping on firmer mattress will result in less backaches and will keep your back straight.

These were the days when we had to adjust to the mattress. Now it’s different. Mattresses have to adjust to our bodies. The problem was that some statistics said that majority of people slept on their backs. So doctors recommended to sleep on back or tummy to keep your back straight.

But these days, statistics are different. Most of us sleep on side. And people don’t want to change their habits. So mattresses have to adjust to our habits and sleeping positions. That’s why firmer futon spring mattresses aren’t good.

When you sleep on a side, your head and spinal column are not in comfortable position, so you experience aches. In such case, softer futons are much better. They’ll adjust to your curvatures much better and you’ll be able to have a more comfortable sleep during the night.

In Conclusion

Let’s wrap it up and see what are the most important points you should look at, before buying an innerspring futon mattress. First of all, you should choose quality spring futon. Natural staple is better for your health than synthetic, so you should choose natural fiber instead.

Second, don’t consider a mattress bad, just because it has fewer coils than the others. A structure of coils is more important. Besides, larger coils, but fewer in number, can give you just as much comfort as 600 or 800 smaller coils in a mattress.
