I am very satisfied with this end table. It was very easy to put together and the directions were very precise. The table itself is made very well and is very sturdy.

Wonderful piece of furniture! Easy to assemble and all pieces included. Just the right look for our new office.

Review date : 2005-10-09
For the price this was a pretty nice little table, the instructions were fairly easy to follow, taking my time it took me about 45 minutes to assemble. I would recommend glueing as well as the screw connections so it makes it even more solid.

The table comes unassembled, but assembly is easy. You will need a large phillips and medium sized phillips screwdrivers. Also the supports on the side for the top will need to be driven on using a hammer, or large chunk of scrap wood. The fit on mine was too tight to be simply slid on. Construction is the cam type that is popular now. All pieces are adequately labled, and small hardware comes nicely packaged; the most convenient I have ever seen. There is an error in the assembly documentation. There are two pieces (1B and 1C, the table sides) which are as far as I can tell are identical. After hardware is installed as indicated on pabe 6 of 13 there is a difference. The two sides are mirror images. On the following page part 1C is shown but labled 1B. This error did not cause me a problem during assembly. The intent was clear to me.

The looks are good. It looks a little clunky to achieve an excellent rating from me. A little milling would help a lot on the drawer face.

Review date : 2005-05-10
I bought this to sit beside a desk. It holds my printer/fax/copier combo. It is very sturdy and does not move at all during print jobs. It is wonderful quality. My desk is from a nice furniture store and they look like a matched set!

My husband only buys very nice real wood furniture and even he admitted that this was a great buy!!

Importance of Good Interior

January 25, 2009 | Category:Articles-Host | Author: admin

Every Human being has a unique chemistry of his own body, choices, preferences, tastes, likes & dislikes and so is the level of comfort depending upon the specific type of Interior Decoration that one cherishes. It is a pure Art to know yourself, identify your needs closely and then make up a surrounding of your own kind which is as unique as you are. The interior which gives you the best satisfaction to live in or work around.

Very few of us are born with this talent to recognize their need of ambience that suits them the best. In other cases some people require Professionals, Experts engaged in the field of Interior Decoration with skills tuned to the nuances of perfection, art and nature. They discover ones style of life, day to day routine & the living habits and accordingly arrange a interior that is most compatible for them.

Almighty is the best Interior Decorator who always keeps us inspiring with his lovely creations, which we call Nature. We all always like to make a little comfortable world within our own surroundings / premises. At all times we try to follow the basic rules of Nature only, like the darker shades at the lower portions and light shades on the upper, heavy objects in the bottom and putting lighter ones in the upper part.

The Interior Decoration describes many facts about a person who relates to it. In other words, Interior Speaks its own language of art, style and life. A rich Interior elevates our soul !!!!

FEW TIPS

1. LIGHT ARRANGEMENT

Natural Light should be maximum used in any Space whether it is residential or commercial. Manmade lights should always be our second preference. Yellow Lights are good for a space to be used for celebrations / festive happenings. White light is good for reading space, worship places, lawns, lobiies, verandahs, restrooms. Light Blue colour lights are best advisable for Bed Rooms. The direction of light should be in front-top of a reader in the reading room or the subject in question. In all cases the level of lighting equipments should be lower than any Ceiling Fan or major fitiing which cuts the flow of light.

2. FREE SPACE

Free Space is a must between the Openings of different rooms and even inside also. It allows the free flow of positive energies in the premises and the cross-ventilation of fresh air, as well. The advisable direction to maintain a Free space is either North-east or Center of the total space. Free space is often called as breathing space also.

3. OPENINGS FOR CONTACT WITH ENVIRONMENT

Sufficient number of Main Windows, Ventilation Windows and Doors must be provided in any building or interior. It allows to keep us in touch with the free and fresh stock of air, energy and day light. Partial arrangements like blindfolds give a very special look to these openings while maintaing their role intact.

4. USE OF WOOD

The use of wood in our buildings and premises give us a feeling of being close to nature. It is much advised in the Inner parts of the buildings only, which are not much exposed to water / water usage. Natural colours of wood are always better, they never react with any kind of Interiors.

5. FLOOR CHOICES

The choice of Floor is an important matter which depends upon the usage of that part of Floor. Wooden Floor for the Living Rooms / Offices are very good owing to their appearance. However, glossy bright tiled / marble floors are advised for the Spaces which are to be used for Commercial activities and celebrations with very heavy usage.

6. COLOR RELEVANCE

Certain Colours are good for particular directions. However, Dark shades are advised in the Bed Rooms. Light shades are better for living rooms, study rooms. Red, yellow and Orange are good for kitchen or the cooking space.

7. WALL AREA

Wall Area should be treated well, where ever it is exposed to the use of water. Specially in the Bathrooms, Toilet and Kitchen, application of Ceramic Tiles gives an eligance and a clean enviornment. Walls can be decorated by using Handmade Tiles, Handpainted Scenaries, Handmade Murals, Ceramic Tile Stes. A wide range of such products and latest Ceramic Tiles / tiling trends can be viewed at http://www.ambalika.com

8. FURNITURE

Furniture is a primary need for usage and comfort. Also it decorates your interior without a saying. Optimum Furniture should be placed in any space specifically in accordance with the use of that particular space. Excessive Furniture just consumes the positive energies flowing in the concerned space.

How To Bring Your Living Room To Life

January 24, 2009 | Category:Articles-Host | Author: admin

Do you like what you have but dont like your room? Heres the solution: pull your rooms together so they look finished and professionally decorated by following these techniques to add the wow to your rooms! (Ive used them in hundreds of homes!).

1. Paint the walls and ceiling a rich, warm neutral color or one of the colors in your rooms fabrics. Your furnishings will immediately look more at home. I call it marrying your architecture to your furnishings.

2. Next, move your seating away from the walls and group it around a fireplace, a view window or any logical focal point.

3. Now, add a generous area rug to accent and unify your entire seating area.

4. Fill any empty looking corners with large plants and soft up-lights. Add a decorative, folding screen for a fuller look.

5. Place your lamps to evenly and softly light your seating area. Use additional lighting to accent your artwork, collections and accessories.

6. Create a focal point on the coffee table by elevating one of your favorite accessories on a stack of several books (sans covers). This will give your treasure more presence. Then add a low, full green plant or a blooming orchid and a couple of large, glowing candles. If you like a fuller look, use a decorative tray or runner underneath.

7. Lastly, be sure to decorate the top half of your room (from the furniture up), with tall plants, window treatments, artwork and that wall color. The room will feel considerably larger, more interesting and most importantly finished!

These few changes will make all the difference so you can start enjoying living in a beautiful home!

I borrowed one of these from a friend to pull the dandelions from my yard and I loved how effective it was. I had to buy one of my own. I’ve pulled weeds with roots up to a foot long - and I didn’t have to worry about using poisins near my gardens. It does leave a hole but you can fill it very easily.

Review date : 2008-06-24
Was fairly disappointed in this product’s performance. Have to place it Just Right and soil needs to be Just So - otherwise wind up yanking away at branches of weed and not the weed itself.

Review date : 2008-06-04
I’m a novice gardener and have become the steward of a sadly overgrown garden. I bought this blindly after having spent a day kneeling and ripping up weeds by hand. I lucked out! What a great product. It’s solidly constructed and has some real heft to it. I did have some issues getting used to how it worked at first. After a while, I got the rhythm and had a blast destroying unsuspecting dandelions and milkweed. I sure hope the neighbors didn’t hear me as I laughed maniacally at the death of those weedy invaders!

Why knock off a star? I did find that a little twisting motion applied as I pulled up slowly helped to get the entire root system. I also noted that sometimes the hound got a little greedy at times and pulled up a lot of soil. I just knocked it off and pushed it back into the divot. And finally, the metal sometimes gets a little stuck and tough to release if I get a little to carried away with weed assassination. I really had to whack it to get it to work again- but keeping that in mind prevented further issues. I also bet I could squirt a little WD40 in there to get it moving again.

All in all- absolutely worth the money!

I think that this works great. I love it and have not put down any bad chems to get rid of weeds.

Review date : 2008-05-08
The design concept is good but this tool needs some reconfiguration before it’s truly effective.

1. The pulling tines should be a bit longer. (They aren’t long enough to grab on and pull up the whole dandelion root, even in wet soil.)

2. The diameter of the base of the tines (where they are mounted) needs to be about 1/4 inch more. (Would give a better chance of grabbing onto the root as the exact center of a dandelion is sometimes hard to eyeball.)

3. Shaft of tool needs to be about 3 inches longer. (So the tool-user doesn’t have to bend over so much to use this thing.)

A Guide To Cabinets

January 24, 2009 | Category:Articles-Host | Author: admin

Cabinets are almost always made of wood, and there are many types of cabinets, for all different uses. Just as furniture is an integral part of home and office decorations, cabinets are the backbone of storing things safely. Traditionally, cabinets were crude and unfinished and required high-maintenance. However, modern day cabinets are made of hi-tech polyurethane and have conversion varnish finishes that keep them protected for years. Like the finest furniture, the highest quality cabinets are finished in multiple steps that include hand sanding, rubbing with steel wool and hand buffing. Traditional wooden cabinets require the application of several thin layers of paint to create a smoother texture and a deeper color.

Cabinets must be cleaned regularly inside and out. Cabinet manufacturers provide specific cleaning instructions for their products, and it’s advisable to follow them. Harsh cleaners are potentially damaging and one should avoid using ammonia-based cleaners, soaps containing dye, abrasive scouring pads or kitchen sponges, as moisture and dampness can damage the cabinet’s wood and finish.

Modern day cabinets are adorned with several accessories like doorknobs, decorative hinges, cut glass, etc. Knobs and pulls are not just decorative accessories, but also protect the cabinets from food crumbs and oils that can damage the wood and finish.

Cabinets definitely help us organize and keep things safely, and they can be found in most homes and offices. However, choosing the right cabinet that suits the interior and furniture of the home or office is important, as it enhances the overall appeal of a room or office space.

Creating Woodland Gardens

January 23, 2009 | Category:Articles-Host | Author: admin

Instead of trying to impose a garden through extensive pruning and soil conditioning, prepare the site for woodland plants, such ferns, shade loving shrubs and perennials. Plants suited to these conditions will grow and thrive without major site preparation.

Limited site manipulation if fine. Lower branches may need to be pruned to allow access into the garden, smaller trees may need to be removed to avoid competition and some organic compost can be added to the site in order to create optimal growing conditions.

Woodland gardens, which mimic the forest landscape, have four vertical elements; the canopy layer, the understory, the shrub layer and the ground layer. Try to incorporate each layer into your garden.

The canopy layer consists of the tallest trees which provide the shade and dictates what you’ll be able to plant. The type of canopy determines the amount of light reaching the ground. Closed canopies allow little to reach the ground and are created by evergreens and large deciduous trees growing close together. Open canopies, on the other hand, create dappled shade and occur when trees are spaced far apart. The understory layer in made up of the smaller woodland trees such as the flowering dogwood. Viburnums, azaleas and other lower growing woody plants create the shrub layer. Ground layer plants include perennials, ferns and bulbs.

The forest landscape changes often so plan accordingly; design your garden giving thought to the seasonal changes in the landscape. In the spring, beneath deciduous trees, quite a bit of sunlight is able reaches the ground through the branches This allows flowering perennials and bulbs to bloom. Though the spring flower display can be stunning, be careful not to plan your woodland garden around these flowers as they will soon disappear and die back to the ground. Include plants with lush foliage which will last through the summer months. As spring progresses and the canopy begins to close, plants such as ferns, mosses and perennials become the focus of the garden as they create a lush green carpet.

In the fall, trees such as sugar maple, dogwood and hickory and deciduous shrubs such as viburnum and summersweet provide brilliant, colorful foliage. After their fall display, deciduous plants drop their leaves replenishing the soil with nutrients that has been stored in their foliage.

Don’t overlook features such as a plant’s form, colorful berries and interesting bark. It is these features which are treasured through the winter months. Berry producing plants also provide wildlife with food.

Many woodland plants can be considered year-round attractions. For example, the dogwood begins the season with flowers and red fruits. After its colorful fall foliage falls to the ground its bark, which flakes with age, provides the garden with interest through the winter. The birch tree’s beautiful form is most noticeable in the winter after it sheds its brilliant yellow leaves. Red twig dogwood is a shrub layer plant which, as the name suggests, has red bark. It stands out wonderfully against the snow and the barren winter landscape.

When planning your woodland garden, be sure to include benches and spaces for rest as gardens in the shade provide a pleasant respite from the hot summer sun.
