How To Bring Your Living Room To Life

December 2, 2008 | Category:Articles-Host | Author: admin

Do you like what you have but dont like your room? Heres the solution: pull your rooms together so they look finished and professionally decorated by following these techniques to add the wow to your rooms! (Ive used them in hundreds of homes!).

1. Paint the walls and ceiling a rich, warm neutral color or one of the colors in your rooms fabrics. Your furnishings will immediately look more at home. I call it marrying your architecture to your furnishings.

2. Next, move your seating away from the walls and group it around a fireplace, a view window or any logical focal point.

3. Now, add a generous area rug to accent and unify your entire seating area.

4. Fill any empty looking corners with large plants and soft up-lights. Add a decorative, folding screen for a fuller look.

5. Place your lamps to evenly and softly light your seating area. Use additional lighting to accent your artwork, collections and accessories.

6. Create a focal point on the coffee table by elevating one of your favorite accessories on a stack of several books (sans covers). This will give your treasure more presence. Then add a low, full green plant or a blooming orchid and a couple of large, glowing candles. If you like a fuller look, use a decorative tray or runner underneath.

7. Lastly, be sure to decorate the top half of your room (from the furniture up), with tall plants, window treatments, artwork and that wall color. The room will feel considerably larger, more interesting and most importantly finished!

These few changes will make all the difference so you can start enjoying living in a beautiful home!

Saw this item in store in Ocean City, NJ, but they didn’t have any.
Got from Amazon and project is great and not too heavy. Very easy
to use and setup, great shade and coverage. Value for $50 is excellent.
Lots of compliments and it would be easy to sell these at double the
price on the beach.

Not much more heavier than the 5′ model it replaced. Get an anchor
to hold in sand. Don’t bother with a smaller umbrella, bigger is
better and worth the money.

I was very impressed with how sturdy this umbrella is and would definitely consider buying a second one. You’ll need an anchor though… in windy weather, this large umbrella can pull away!

Despite the cost (or perhaps because of it), this is a great umbrella.
You need to purchase a stand, though…especially if you are going to use it on grass or as a picnic-table umbrella. We use it for our table, and it provides great shade! It’s extremely stylish too, with vibrant colors.
We love it!

This umbrella is huge! and well built. But figure out some way to anchor it because it catches wind like a sail. In the picture, it shows the umbrella sitting on it’s side and that is how i wanted to use it.
I purchased this for use in our backyard by the kiddie pools. For the adults to sit under while the kids played. Because it was grass, we couldn’t bury the pole. Perhaps at the beach you can and that would be sufficent. We tried to weight the umbrella with bags, shoes and towels. everytime the breeze blew, the umbrella tried to flip over or jump backwards. and it’s so large and well built, it would definitely cause injury. We finally ended up closing it up and sitting in the sun.

We love this umbrella. It provides enough shade to allow both of us to sit in beach chairs under it. No more struggling to fit in the shade. Very happy with purchase. Other people at the beach are always jealous!

Using Drapes and Curtains to Treat Yourself and Your Windows

December 2, 2008 | Category:Articles-Host | Author: admin

There are many styles of curtains, shades, valances and other window treatments that you can use to dress your windows. Dressed windows add to the charm of your house and make it look gorgeous. The key is to keep things in balance rather than overpower the space with too many contrasting colors. Window treatments can cost a mint these days, especially if the person doing the decorating would like to find something which is not only practical but also aesthetically pleasing. You can create your own window treatment with ideas from the internet, your local library, a craft shop or even book stores. All you need to do the job are a few supplies and a little patience, and if you know how to sew then it’s an added advantage.

Custom Treatment

By custom treatment we mean the traditional way of doing up the window dressing. Custom window treatments may range from the traditional Victorian, Adirondack or country to contemporary modern or just plain challenging. You might like custom made roman shades to coordinate with your bedspread or a tailored pleated valance that lends itself to multiple fabric combinations. Balloon shades can be used as a valance or a fully functioning shade. Swags and cascades can make your window look classic or casual. Draw drapes or stationary drapes are timeless solutions appropriate to any d
