How To Bring Your Living Room To Life

November 14, 2008 | Category:Articles-Host | Author: admin

Do you like what you have but dont like your room? Heres the solution: pull your rooms together so they look finished and professionally decorated by following these techniques to add the wow to your rooms! (Ive used them in hundreds of homes!).

1. Paint the walls and ceiling a rich, warm neutral color or one of the colors in your rooms fabrics. Your furnishings will immediately look more at home. I call it marrying your architecture to your furnishings.

2. Next, move your seating away from the walls and group it around a fireplace, a view window or any logical focal point.

3. Now, add a generous area rug to accent and unify your entire seating area.

4. Fill any empty looking corners with large plants and soft up-lights. Add a decorative, folding screen for a fuller look.

5. Place your lamps to evenly and softly light your seating area. Use additional lighting to accent your artwork, collections and accessories.

6. Create a focal point on the coffee table by elevating one of your favorite accessories on a stack of several books (sans covers). This will give your treasure more presence. Then add a low, full green plant or a blooming orchid and a couple of large, glowing candles. If you like a fuller look, use a decorative tray or runner underneath.

7. Lastly, be sure to decorate the top half of your room (from the furniture up), with tall plants, window treatments, artwork and that wall color. The room will feel considerably larger, more interesting and most importantly finished!

These few changes will make all the difference so you can start enjoying living in a beautiful home!

I have had my Braun Multiquick for 5-6 years now, and it’s still my go-to gadget. I haven’t bothered buying a standalone blender or food processor because this does the job of both without taking up nearly the space. The two chopper bowls are excellent for chopping nuts, onions, etc, or for whirring up a quick pesto or salsa. The ice chopper is great for frozen drinks. Of course, the standard blender stick can’t be beat for milkshakes. And your shake doesn’t melt while your busy washing a big bulky blender pitcher; you can just quickly rinse the stick and enjoy your shake. I’m not sure that I’ve used the whisk attachment since an old-fashioned whisk is just as easy. If I were beating egg whites I might try it, but I’d probably use my KitchenAid stand mixer anyway since I’d likely be using it for the rest of a recipe anyway. I also wouldn’t recommend this for heavy doughs.

I had less than one year’s use with this product and it broke - and I mean light use. It broke when I was was grinding parmesan cheese. It’s obviously a disposable item, as i can’t find a source to fix it. And I paid $20 more than it is being offerd for now. I’m going back to more manual ways of doing things.

400 watt–good power–shouldn’t burn out. Quality modern white design. Beautiful. Would make a nice gift. Cord is long length. Comes with mount for wall–keeps your blender within easy reach. Manual advises not good for batters thicker than pancake batter. Comes with whip attachment–can beat 4 egg whites at a time. This package (there are others available with less attachments) comes with 2 chopping containers (large and small). Large one has a removable ice crusher attachment. Both containers have no-skid bases which are removeable to use for lids! Also comes with a measuring container with a lid–recipes/drinks/smoothies can be mixed directly in this. Altogether, you get4 blades–one on the immersion wand, one for the small chopper, one for the large chopper, and then the ice crusher blade. There are 12 speeds with an additional turbo speed for the ice crushing and power pulses. Most pieces go in dishwasher (not the motor or the white piece above the whip)–all else dishwasher safe. Love it. If you don’t get this one, just be sure to get one with at least 400 watts power. But get this one–you’ll love it.

My purchase for this product was determined by the reviews on this site. The product is entirely a great buy and versatile blender. It can do many different speeds and strengths, entirely adjustable. The only thing I didn’t like was the unsightly, weird, silly plastic wall holder for this appliance. It just a sleeve and some kind of loop to maybe hold the cord in?
It would be nice to have a holder that is a little more attractive for hanging on the kitchen wall as well as holding all the basic attachments that come with it. This is a good buy and I would definitely purchase another whenever a replacement might be needed.

I honestly can’t remember what I did before I bought this blender other than spend wayyyyyyyyy too much time using my food processor for soups, tomato sauce, etc. Now, it’s so easy, so quick to use the hand blender and have the job done in literally two minutes. No more tranferring and having more bowl cleanups! It has so many functions that it’s an "at hand" tool to be used almost daily.

Building A Moulding Bench For The Hobby Foundry

November 14, 2008 | Category:Articles-Host | Author: admin

If you’re going to spend a good part of your spare time working in your hobby foundry, then you’ll need to have the best possible equipment & gear that you can afford. And there is no need to go out and spend a small fortune, if you are resourceful you can do a lot your self.

If you have the ability to fabricate & weld steel, then the best way is to
self-build, you can custom design & build a moulding bench exactly the
way you want it.

And if you don’t know how to fabricate and weld then building a moulding
bench will provide a learning experience in basic fabrication and arc
welding skills. It’s not hard; and it’s a lot of fun, & quite rewarding when you can complete worthwhile projects your self.

In the 3-Vol-foundry ebook, we illustrate a moulding bench constructed from second-hand steel tube, 3/4″ thick MDF board for bench top, it is mounted on casters for mobility around the shed. When not being used for making moulds it can be used for other purposes in the workshop.
To protect the bench top, it is wise to clad the MDF with 16g sheet metal, preferably with a zinc or galvanised coating to prevent rust occurring, which will happen if you use green sand for moulding, because it holds quite a bit moisture, and will corrode plain sheet metal.

Moulding Bench Dimensions - What is the right size for you?

Most tables & benches are made to standard heights, these heights
are determined from the average human being size… but what if you’re
not AVERAGE, you might be quite tall or very short, nothing is more
uncomfortable than working at a bench that’s not tuned to your height.

So think carefully when you construct your own moulding bench. You don’t want to have to bend over the bench too far as this will give a back ache, make it too high, and you wont be able to carry out your moulding work properly. Measure the heights of various tables and benches
around your house which are generally made to recommended table or bench heights, try these out in an imaginary way, and then adjust slightly up or down to suit your height and no one else, simply because you will be the one working on the bench.

A good way to see what bench height is best for you is to place your
mould boxes on a normal table; imagine you are about to start work
in your foundry. Make an assessment to see if the table is to high, or to low, or perhaps it’s just right, make an informed decision and then build your new moulding bench to suit you.

You will be spending a lot of time ramming and making sand moulds, so
make sure the bench height is the most comfortable possible. You should also think about storage areas underneath your moulding bench, design your bench to store your sand bins, moulding boxes, bottom boards, tins of parting powder, and other hand tools used in your hobby foundry.
