How To Bring Your Living Room To Life

November 8, 2008 | Category:Articles-Host | Author: admin

Do you like what you have but dont like your room? Heres the solution: pull your rooms together so they look finished and professionally decorated by following these techniques to add the wow to your rooms! (Ive used them in hundreds of homes!).

1. Paint the walls and ceiling a rich, warm neutral color or one of the colors in your rooms fabrics. Your furnishings will immediately look more at home. I call it marrying your architecture to your furnishings.

2. Next, move your seating away from the walls and group it around a fireplace, a view window or any logical focal point.

3. Now, add a generous area rug to accent and unify your entire seating area.

4. Fill any empty looking corners with large plants and soft up-lights. Add a decorative, folding screen for a fuller look.

5. Place your lamps to evenly and softly light your seating area. Use additional lighting to accent your artwork, collections and accessories.

6. Create a focal point on the coffee table by elevating one of your favorite accessories on a stack of several books (sans covers). This will give your treasure more presence. Then add a low, full green plant or a blooming orchid and a couple of large, glowing candles. If you like a fuller look, use a decorative tray or runner underneath.

7. Lastly, be sure to decorate the top half of your room (from the furniture up), with tall plants, window treatments, artwork and that wall color. The room will feel considerably larger, more interesting and most importantly finished!

These few changes will make all the difference so you can start enjoying living in a beautiful home!

This is perfect for my needs. My 1824 bathroom is large, but it has only one light and a small window. This has opened up everything and brought so much light into the shower area. It was so dark before. I’ll never go back to the old type.

The color is great. It’s a very clean white & the clear part at the top is nice and translucent–no cloudiness.
This shower curtian is long, for those of us who benefit from a lenghthier curtain.
I LOVE how much light is able to shine through! No more drowsy, dark showers. I’m NOT a morning person, so the flood of light really helps me to ‘wake up’.

I found the ‘window’ to be very comforting (an unexpected bonus!). I feel like I’m still "present" in the room while showering–not distant, removed, ‘closed off’ or unavailable. If you occasionally chat with or are often "consulted" by family members during your bathroom routines, then you’ll DEFINITELY appreciate this feature.

If your baby is currently going through a "separation anxiety" phase (as all babies & toddlers do) then this shower curtain is a prayer answered! Now Baby can continue to keep a watchful eye on Mommy-even while she showers. No more baby fits & tantrums while Mommy rushes through a shower as fast as she can.
I haven’t had this shower curtain long enough to comment on the anti-bacterial properties. However, I can comment on these things:
~ This curtain IS heavy-duty. It’s sturdy and well-crafted.
~ The reviewer who commented on the height was correct–if you require ample or adequate coverage, then it’s a perfect fit for a male or a short to medium height female.

It worth every penny, is as heavy as they say and it satisfied my need.very good for small spaces

Previous reviews warning of the true height of the clear panel helped me be prepared. It arrived in one piece in a timely manner, it was a reasonable price and so far it seems fine.

don’t worry about some psycho murder while showering ever again! you can see what’s going on outside the shower, but people who come in can’t see your business.

Gardening - Lawn Maintenance Chores Part III

November 8, 2008 | Category:Articles-Host | Author: admin

In this next in our series on lawn maintenance chores we’re going to begin going over certain things that should be done depending on the time of the year. This of course may vary slightly depending on the climate you live in.

We’ll begin with the month of March. The reason is that in most places this is when the last big snow has melted and the ground is no longer soggy. You can now go out and do some raking of leaves and remove any debris from your lawn leftover from the cold winter. By raking the lawn you’ll remove any thatch that was left from the previous year, and will also aerate the soil. If you’re not fond of raking, an alternative is to lower your mower blades and attach a mulch bag to the mower. Use the mower to remove the leaves and debris from the lawn. Set your mower to leave about a three inch cut but don’t cut the lawn just yet.

You’ll probably want to wait until the first week of April to give the lawn its first cut. That way you can be sure that the cut is about three inches as there will be enough grass to cut. In March the grass probably hasn’t grown enough yet. The reason you want to wait is because if you cut the lawn too soon you will weaken it and then you’ll be spending April watering it. This way you avoid this problem.

Around the middle to end of April begin your fertilization. Feed the grass once between now and the middle of May. Keep cutting the lawn high so that it develops a thick strong base. That way it will be able to withstand draught, grubs and weeds. Get a fertilizer that has at least a 50% slow release factor. Make sure you only use weed killer when you can actually see the weeds. Most weed killers kill on contact but only if the weeds are visible. Otherwise they are totally ineffective and you will have wasted your money.

As the weather begins to warm up the weeds will begin to show some signs of life. If you have only a few weeds you can spot spray them. If however, you have a lot then you might want to use a hose and a sprayer and apply chemicals to the whole lawn. This can wait until late May or Early June. Also around this time you should apply your crabgrass killer.

One word of caution. That really annoying Ground Ivy or Creeping Charlie is unaffected by 2-4-D, so please check the label carefully that the weeds you’re trying to get rid of are covered by the chemical that you’re using. If you’re unsure of this, consult with an expert. He’ll be able to tell you based on what you have what you need to get.

In the next article in this series we’ll continue with chores that need to be done in May and June
