How To Bring Your Living Room To Life

November 5, 2008 | Category:Articles-Host | Author: admin

Do you like what you have but dont like your room? Heres the solution: pull your rooms together so they look finished and professionally decorated by following these techniques to add the wow to your rooms! (Ive used them in hundreds of homes!).

1. Paint the walls and ceiling a rich, warm neutral color or one of the colors in your rooms fabrics. Your furnishings will immediately look more at home. I call it marrying your architecture to your furnishings.

2. Next, move your seating away from the walls and group it around a fireplace, a view window or any logical focal point.

3. Now, add a generous area rug to accent and unify your entire seating area.

4. Fill any empty looking corners with large plants and soft up-lights. Add a decorative, folding screen for a fuller look.

5. Place your lamps to evenly and softly light your seating area. Use additional lighting to accent your artwork, collections and accessories.

6. Create a focal point on the coffee table by elevating one of your favorite accessories on a stack of several books (sans covers). This will give your treasure more presence. Then add a low, full green plant or a blooming orchid and a couple of large, glowing candles. If you like a fuller look, use a decorative tray or runner underneath.

7. Lastly, be sure to decorate the top half of your room (from the furniture up), with tall plants, window treatments, artwork and that wall color. The room will feel considerably larger, more interesting and most importantly finished!

These few changes will make all the difference so you can start enjoying living in a beautiful home!

Amazon.com Product Description

When cutting grass, ever find yourself in a situation where a hand tool is not enough, but a full-size power tool is too much? Black & Decker’s Black & Decker 3.6-volt cordless grass shear is just what you need for detail trimming work such as around flower beds, trees, fences, and retaining walls; we found it to be especially useful in small, delicate, or difficult-to-reach areas, such as around bushes, vines, and ornamental grasses. Modeled after sheep-shearing clippers, the quiet buzzing of this little machine will give your grass a safe trim without knocking down your prized petunias. Note that this model was not designed for large or lengthy jobs: the battery charge lasts only up to 35 minutes, and the 3-inch shearing blades will not cover ground as efficiently as the spinning line of a string trimmer. Although the unit is extremely lightweight and easy to maneuver, it does require that you keep the trigger pressed to engage the blades, which can cause hand fatigue after about 15 minutes of constant use. A safety latch prevents accidental start-up. This tool is backed by a full 2-year warranty.

Design is poor as it gives me a cramp to hold the safety button AND the power button at the same time. But I never have the cramp for long since the battery doesn’t hold a charge worth a sou. After just a few minutes cutting the battery loses enough power that the blades won’t cut through anything thicker than air. Now after just a couple of years of light use the battery is completely dead. No replacement batteries available anywhere except "authorized repair" shops. My guess is that it would cost as much to replace the batteries as it did to buy the shears in the first place. I’m sorry I bought these.

While this is okay for light quick edging - it cuts through a reasonable thickness of grass & weeds - it is not easy turn on and keep on. The switch must be pushed forward and down with the thumb constantly in order to keep it on. Even in short bursts I still get a sore spot on the end of my thumb (forget about the ache in the knuckle). I have a friend with arthritus who can’t even turn it on. My mom has an old one without the thumb safety switch and it is MUCH easier to use.
B&D, if you are reading this…PLEASE find a better switch. I’ve had mine for about 2 years and the already nasty switch is starting to go now. I have to jiggle it and adjust the pressure to get it to work at all.

Great for clipping around the yard. Stays charged for hours. Good buy and great shipping time.

I ordered the grass shears to use around some roses and other areas that a lawn mower can’t touch and a weed whacker could damage. The shears are very loud for an electric tool and they will stop cutting when they encounter any sort of thicker grass. It is actually easier and quicker to use a pair of large scissors or small manual shears than use this product. Good idea, but far from perfected yet. Not worth the money.

Somewhat bulky compared to pass models but does what I want and runs over 20 minutes. I cut dead flowers twigs and do clean up hedge work with them. Saves time and effort. I do not understand negative comments about run time. Runs long enough for my yard work. Use it almost daily.
