How To Bring Your Living Room To Life

September 30, 2008 | Category:Articles-Host | Author: admin

Do you like what you have but dont like your room? Heres the solution: pull your rooms together so they look finished and professionally decorated by following these techniques to add the wow to your rooms! (Ive used them in hundreds of homes!).

1. Paint the walls and ceiling a rich, warm neutral color or one of the colors in your rooms fabrics. Your furnishings will immediately look more at home. I call it marrying your architecture to your furnishings.

2. Next, move your seating away from the walls and group it around a fireplace, a view window or any logical focal point.

3. Now, add a generous area rug to accent and unify your entire seating area.

4. Fill any empty looking corners with large plants and soft up-lights. Add a decorative, folding screen for a fuller look.

5. Place your lamps to evenly and softly light your seating area. Use additional lighting to accent your artwork, collections and accessories.

6. Create a focal point on the coffee table by elevating one of your favorite accessories on a stack of several books (sans covers). This will give your treasure more presence. Then add a low, full green plant or a blooming orchid and a couple of large, glowing candles. If you like a fuller look, use a decorative tray or runner underneath.

7. Lastly, be sure to decorate the top half of your room (from the furniture up), with tall plants, window treatments, artwork and that wall color. The room will feel considerably larger, more interesting and most importantly finished!

These few changes will make all the difference so you can start enjoying living in a beautiful home!

Amazon.com Product Description

This handsome, well-made chaise is tailor-made for soaking up the sun or relaxing by the pool. A unique tray table extends to hold drinks, magazines, and other lounging essentials, then slides back underneath for storage. The back adjusts to five positions–from fully-upright to completely-reclined. Matching cushions can also be purchased to add even more comfort.

The bench’s slotted surface allows rain to flow through, rather than collect and damage the wood. The piece is made from kapur wood, a high-density Southeast Asian hardwood with excellent weather-resistant properties. Light enough to move easily around deck or lawn, kapur requires no finishing and is exceptionally-sturdy–with enough oil to repel the ravages of rain, sun, and dew. Rust-resistant hardware and mortise and tenon construction also add to the piece’s strength and durability.

Before shipment, your new furniture received a generous application of teak oil. Teak oil provides protection from the ultraviolet sunrays. Left untreated, Kapur will weather to a soft warm shade of gray similar to the weathering of teak. If you prefer to prevent this weathering process, you may apply additional coats of teak oil. The frequency of necessary teak oil applications will depend on the intensity of the sun in your environment, but typically, one or two coats per year is sufficient. Teak oil can usually be found at a marine dealer, hardware store, or internet dealer. If you allow your furniture to weather, you may later decide that you would want to restore it to its original condition. This is possible by using teak cleaner products, also available at most marine dealers and internet dealers. After following the instructions for cleaning, you will want to apply a coat of teak oil to prevent the weathering process.

The lounge’s preassembled components fit together easily with the help of an included allen wrench. This item measures 74 inches long, 24 inches wide, and 12-1/2 inches tall. –Mary Park

I read all of the reviews here and decided to buy two of these. One did arrived damaged but Amazon was very helpful with that. They sent me a new chair right away. It was a bit of a pain in the neck re-wrapping it though and due to the damage they were not here in time for my son’s bday party as we hoped they would be. But the customer service was great.

I did seal the chairs as some other reviews suggested. They look awesome! I figured it was worth the time and effort to save some $ and not have them stain our patio. I have noticed though a tiny bit of stain from the chairs on the patio, but am still pretty happy with them.

I would buy them again.

I’m using this lounger on my 12×12 patio and it is great! Just wide and long enough to be comfortable, but not so big that it crowds the space. It takes about 40 minutes to assemble (if you cannot find the wheels, they are stored in the space under the pull-out table - it took me 20 minutes of searching to find them!). We just had rain here and this chair did fine - you could see the water beading up on it rather than soaking into the wood. Also, it will support larger people - my family is up to 300lbs and it has been just fine!

These lounge chairs are great, arrived on time, good quality and excellent price

I initially bought one lounger and then ordered a second one because it was just what I had wanted at a fantastic price.

Review date : 2008-06-16
I was pleasantly surprised that the chaise lounges we bought for around $100 were very solid, very well-made, and quite nice-looking. Be aware, these are very heavy chairs made of solid teak-like material, not flimsy cheap knock-offs. It took a little time to assemble the lounges, but they went together very well and seem like they will stay together well. Even the wheels are quality made where they could have been compromised. Designed to move effortless around the yard, with nice handles and large wheels. Our only regret, and it is a minor one, is that the back could have come more upright than it does… definitely a lounger. Nice pull-out tables, though.

Landscaping Ideas That Will Make Your Front Yard Look More Inviting

September 30, 2008 | Category:Articles-Host | Author: admin

With front yard landscaping you can easily express yourself and your home in a fun way. You might not think about it, but if want to make a warm and welcoming impression the front yard is the place you should begin. As the house is today, would you feel comfortable to walk up to the door and ring the bell if you were a stranger? In case you answer no to that question you know for sure that it’s just about time you do something to spice up your front yard.

Your house and its front yard is always a stranger’s first impression of you. And an easy way to make your quarters look friendlier simply is to add some more flowers to the garden in front of the house. Flowers are easy landscaping ways to implement in your front yard. These flowers can be used in all kinds of ways too. For example they can line a sidewalk or the path to your door on the porch. Flowers planted in nice beds around your front door are sure to be a delight to any first time visitor.

Other easy landscaping ideas for your front yard are trees and shrubs. These are a great way to line a front yard property border. Shrubs are also a great way to make things look neat and well organized. And as long as you give them the proper care they require, they will be there for you. But in case you want to cut down on the future workload in the garden, you should try not to plant trees that loose their leaves on the paths and make them slick. You can also consider using fruit trees or dogwood tress for your front yard. Most of these are gorgeous looking trees that will produce sweet calming scents for you.

Porches are a favorite place to many and what you do with your front porch depends on its dimension. A good way could be to add comfort to your front porch by using benches and tables to create an inevitable and warm look. You can also consider plants and flower as another way to add not only good looks but also colors and depth to your front porch. In most gardens, a climbing vine rank is a notable way to create a railing or arch way.

Of course your sidewalk or paths must be well maintained and clean from garbage. In case you have a sidewalk that needs to get repaired, then make those necessary mends to make it not only secure but also attractive. Sidewalks that are made of concrete and other sort of decorative stone or rock are probably the best in most cases. And with a little bit of creativity you can make it a central point of your front yard. You can also make a peaceful addition to your paths by building a pond or two. This will most likely do the trick, but you don’t want create something that is too overwhelming. Should you decide on the landscaping idea with a pond or fountain to your yard, then adding some bricks or stones as borders or as a foundation will give your property a classic feeling.

A good landscaping advice for the front-yard of your house is to always keep it simple. You might want to, but you shouldn’t make anything so your front yard looks like a tropical forest or that it makes people feel like they are in a maze in search for your front door. It doesn’t matter what design you choose for your yard, just make sure you keep it neat and in good health and you will be pleased every time you stroll up that path to your front door.

Furniture Styles Is Certainly Attractive, Not To Mention Pricey

September 28, 2008 | Category:Articles-Host | Author: admin

Antique furniture is one of the keys to decoration. Gracefully bestowing style on a
room is not as expensive as you may think. Going to an antique dealer can turn out
to be quite costly because you end up having to pay for restoration. However, if you
look around in secondhand markets you are likely to come across some surprising
finds at reasonable prices.

Here are ten household helpful hints for furniture styles and placement:

1. If there is a special piece of antique furniture in the room it will probably become
the central feature, so organize according to it.

2. Restoring, stripping, or painting a piece of furniture can give it a new lease on
life.

3. Reupholstering chairs, armchairs, of sofas is an economical way of renovating
furniture.

4. Movable furniture on wheels and foldable chair and tables are ideal for small,
multifunctional spaces.

5. Furniture can be used strategically to divide up spaces and create different
ambiences.

6. Architecturally challenging spaces should be furnished with clean, crisp-line
furniture.

7. When choosing furniture, analyze which pieces are really necessary and which can
be done away with.

8. Auxiliary tables, like coffee tables, are vital for multipurpose rooms.

9. Use an antique piece of furniture for inspiration or as the starting point when
appropriate.

10. Use furniture to link the different rooms in the house together.
